He is managing director of the Center for Global Studies and a research fellow in international relations at the University of Bonn. His current book project focuses on the significance of soft power, including personal diplomacy and charismatic leadership, within German-American relations.</p><p>	<strong>Research interests: </strong>Power, especially soft power, and power shifts in international affairs; US foreign policy; US presidency and German-American relations; and individual agency and charismatic leadership in history and global politics.</p><p>	 </p>
