Kobe De Keere
Research interests: Cultural distinction; moral boundaries; reproduction of class inequality; cultural history; labor market; and job selection.
Bio: Kobe De Keere is assistant professor in cultural sociology at the University of Amsterdam and a Veni Grant holder. In 2015 he received a Ph.D. in sociology from the Free University of Brussels (VUB). His main research focus is on subjects such as historical transformations of culture, symbolic and moral boundaries, cultural distinction and reproduction of class inequalities. He published several books, articles and chapters on individualism, governmentality, political attitudes and cultural conflicts. He is a member of the Program Group Cultural Sociology of the Amsterdam Institute of Social Science Research. Currently he is working on project that investigates the hidden role of cultural capital in occupational recruitment procedures. For this project, he compares different employment sectors as well as class positions.
