Kristina Bakkær Simonsen
Research interests: Political sociology; national identity; immigrant integration; symbolic and social boundary-drawing; morality and moralization; and qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods.
Bio: Kristina Bakkær Simonsen is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science at Aarhus University (Denmark). Her research targets the intersection of politics and belonging in relation to immigrant integration issues and national identity, from the point of view of minorities and majorities alike. She holds a PhD from Aarhus University (awarded the IMISCOE PhD prize in 2019), and was previously Visiting Fellow at Harvard University (Fulbright Scholar) and Malmö University. At the WCFIA she will study politicians’ moralization of immigration issues and its effects on public opinion. The project is sponsored by the Independent Research Fund Denmark.
