Matthew Feely is a national security practitioner, educator, and policy analyst whose work focuses on risk management, crisis leadership, decision making, negotiations, organizational trust, and public policy. He was previously a Policy and Operations Analyst at the Institute for Defense Analyses and has taught at Columbia Business School, Tufts University, the U.S. Army War College, and National Defense University. A retired Captain in the United States Navy, he held senior leadership positions across the Department of Defense, including commanding the Fleet Logistics Center in Yokosuka, Japan, and leading logistics and humanitarian response operations following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami. He received a PhD in Decision Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004.

**Research Interests:** Crisis leadership; decision making; multilateral negotiations; pan-government coordination; trust development and maintenance; business ethics; and justice and citizenship.
