Ayşe Betül Çelik
Ayşe Betül Çelik Kıbrıs is a political scientist whose research focuses on ethnic conflict, peace processes, intergroup relations, gender and peacemaking, forced displacement, and the Kurdish issue in Turkey. Drawing on interviews, focus groups, surveys, text analysis, and conflict-mapping methods, her work examines conflict transformation, reconciliation, societal polarization, and the role of civil society in building sustainable peace. She received her PhD in Political Science from SUNY Binghamton in 2002 and is a Full Professor at Sabancı University and an Honorary Faculty Member in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick. Her contributions to peacebuilding and gender-inclusive peacemaking have been recognized with the Official rank of the Star of the Order of Italy and the Kadir Has Outstanding Achievement Award in Global Peace and Justice.
Research Interests: Ethnic conflict; Kurdish issues in Turkey; civil war; peace processes; intergroup relations; forced migration; and women and peacemaking.
